November 6, Floridians set out on the “Great VISIT FLORIDA Beach Walk” and photo fest to show the world that Florida’s 825 miles of beaches are just as gorgeous as ever! Volunteer organizations and beach lovers from all over Florida took part in what was most likely the largest beach rally ever held. Over 2,000 teams and individuals participated in Florida’s 34 beach counties and 825 miles of beaches to photograph, video, and Tweet every mile of Florida’s coastline, just six months after the oil spill.

The online photo gallery is available to view at www.VISITFLORIDA.com/BeachWalk. Where you can vote on your favorite mile of the 825 beach miles and be entered into the sweepstakes to win a Florida beach trip with the chance to win a Mazda MX-5 Miata and a $5,00 gift card.

An interactive map will allow those viewing the photo gallery to follow the coastline where volunteers walked, paddled, and boated as they shot photos all along the beaches of the Sunshine State. “Floridians are passionate about our beaches and we all have a favorite mile or two,” said Will Seccombe, VISIT FLORIDA Chief Marketing Officer. “This is a great opportunity for all of us to enjoy what we love about Florida and support our state’s economy at the same time. By sharing thousands of photos of Florida’s 825 miles of beaches, we will put to rest any lingering concerns from this summer’s oil spill.”
